IFE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations, Fire Safety and Management Syllabus

This qualification recognises the knowledge and understanding of those operating at or preparing to operate at the Crew Manager level.  It is also appropriate for other fire specialists such as fire safety specialists.  To achieve the qualification, candidates have to achieve each of the four mandatory units.  Each unit is assessed by an examination for one hour.

The content of the qualification is set out in the four units presented below. These sections provide information on the range of topics that must be studied to achieve each unit including the way in which candidates need to show their understanding (Assessment Criteria) and the scope/range/contents in which they can be tested (Knowledge, Understanding, and Skills).

The syllabus content is very broad and deep and therefore not all topics can be tested in all the examinations. Candidates are advised to prepare for each examination by covering all topics in the unit content so that they are able to provide comprehensive responses.
