Our annual Golf Day took place on Friday, 11 September, at the beautiful Randpark Golf Course on the world-class Firethorn Course — and what a day it was! There was golf, networking, plenty of laughter, no doubt a few questionable shots, and lots of opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new connections. In other words, it was exactly what a Golf Day should be!

We were delighted to welcome Mr Andries Ramotso, one of our Branch Directors and a former Branch President, who joined us for a day of fun and festivities. Together with our current Branch President, Mr Given Mgiba, he enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the players while helping to ensure that the day ran smoothly.

 

A very big thank you to all the companies who entered four-balls to play, as well as everyone who sponsored tee boxes, carts and the putting green, set up display tables, and brought along their own competitions and activities. Your involvement adds so much fun, interaction and camaraderie to the day.

Of course, no Golf Day would be complete without prizes — and thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, companies and members, we certainly weren’t short of them! A massive thank you to everyone who donated prizes, contacted friends and colleagues to help secure prizes, or dug a little deeper and made personal contributions to ensure that every player could go home with something.

The players’ goodie bags were absolutely jam-packed with goodies, and the wonderful raffle prizes added another layer of excitement to the day, as well as the competitions held by some of the sponsors at their tables. Add to that the golfing competitions of Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and Beat the Pro, there was certainly lots of action on the course and many opportunities for players to score more goodies to take home.

We welcomed an impressive 132 players onto the course, followed by more than 180 guests at the prize-giving dinner in the evening. From the first tee-off to the final prize, it was a fantastic day filled with great company, good food, plenty of laughs and, thankfully, more good shots than bad ones… although everyone may have a slightly different version of that story!

And, of course, congratulations must go to the Akhanani Fire Suppression team, who came out on top and took the honours as our winners on the day, in both first and second place.

Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without your incredible support, generosity and enthusiasm. You helped create a day that was about so much more than golf — it was about friendships, relationships, networking and having a great time together.
