Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety Online Exam Preparation Course

This online learning course has been developed for students preparing for the Institution of Fire Engineers international Level 2 Certificate Examination.  The course is recommended for learners who are new to the field of fire engineering or who have no other relevant qualifications. 

The course will be presented on the IFE Online College platform which is designed to facilitate a smooth learning experience.

The course is of a distance learning nature; thus enabling learning to be done in remote locations having internet access and with the use of an electronic device such as a personal computer, tablet, or smartphone, by persons who can only study at varying times, and those who simply prefer to learn independently – without physically attending a traditional classroom in a building.  Students will receive guidance notes, tutorials and assessments (both self-assessment). Some tutor assistance will also be available.

The course includes a wide range of modern learning resources and assessment methods – all to help gain knowledge and understanding applicable to fire prevention, fire protection, and firefighting careers.  Recommended course duration is usually one year, though this can be completed in less time if the student is prepared to increase the dedicated study time.

The step-by-step learning aid is set out in 3 modules, following the IFE syllabus in subjects of Fire Engineering Science, Fire Safety and Fire & Rescue Operations, referencing the IFE prescribed study materials. Successful completion of this course should provide you with knowledge, understanding, and confidence to enter the International Examination. (Note this course does not provide the International Examination nor Qualification; only the preparation for the Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety Examination).

The objective of the Level 2 Certificate qualification has been established to reflect best professional practice and covers key knowledge and understanding in the areas of fire science, fire service operations and fire safety.  The qualification has been designed to enable individuals to demonstrate a wide range of critical knowledge and understanding relevant to the role of a firefighter. The qualification will also meet the needs of other fire professionals who wish to extend their underpinning knowledge and understanding in order to undertake general fire safety roles. Success in the qualification will enable individuals to demonstrate that they can apply their knowledge and skills to provide solutions to a range of fire-related activities.
