Technician
Technician grade membership (TIFireE) is an entry-level graded membership for those who have gained a ‘Level 3 Certificate’ qualification, equivalent to 130 hours of learning time, in Fire Engineering and have been working in a relevant role in the industry for at least 2 years.
Being a TIFireE is a clear sign of professional commitment to working towards the highest level of competency at the start of your career.
At this level, you may wish to check whether your qualifications are accredited by the Engineering Council (UK) and if so, apply with us at adminstaff@ife.org.za to become Registered as an Engineering Technician.
Membership of the IFE provides you with a variety of benefits as well as the following:

At least 2 years of experience working in a fire-related role. PLUS Evidence of completion of at least 25 hours of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the previous 12 months. Please note: Engineering Technician registration with the IFE automatically confers Technician (TIFireE) membership. Thus, successful applicants can use the post-nominal letters EngTech TIFireE. Subscription fees are renewable on 1 January every year. New members joining from October to December will receive these months ‘gratis’ when paying the following year’s rate. Subscription fees are linked to the UK Pound and may therefore be subject to fluctuations in the exchange rate.
